Case studies / Demo and proof of concept
A working HR demo for prospective clients and investors
The client needed something tangible to put in front of prospective clients and investors. I built a working voice-based HR demo quickly, connecting AI conversations to the services behind them.

An idea people could see in action
The brief was to build a demo that the client could use to show prospective clients and investors how telephone-based AI could support everyday people management. The conversation needed to connect to employee information, handle a request and notify the appropriate person.
The demo needed to show the complete workflow, including what happened after the caller made a request, so the client could make the proposed use of the technology tangible.
What I built
I took responsibility for the architecture, backend implementation and integrations, from requirements through to implementation and validation.
- Connected the conversation to services: built the application’s backend services in Go on AWS, connecting telephone calls, AI and email.
- Implemented the HR interactions: supported employee ID validation, holiday balance enquiries and time-off requests.
- Completed the notification workflow: connected requests to email notifications for managers.
Phone call
The caller speaks to the assistant.
Employee ID check
The demo validates the employee’s ID.
Holiday request
The caller makes a time-off request.
Manager notified
An email completes the workflow.

A demo that supported commercial conversations
The demo was well received. The client was able to show how AI and voice technologies could be used to benefit people-management processes, using working HR interactions to explain the idea.
The delivered demo served as a proof of concept for conversations with potential clients and investors.
